Nigeria Q4 2016 Radio & TV Audience Ratings Report
We are pleased to provide you with a Media Measurement report with audience statistics on Top TV Stations and Top Radio Stations for Quarter 4 2016 in Nigeria, where the GeoPoll Media Measurement service is currently available.
Radio
Using the daily data collected through GeoPoll's Media Measurement Service, GeoPoll has analyzed the top Radio stations at the national level in Nigeria for Q4 2016. We examined both ratings and share for the top stations in Nigeria.
The below chart shows the average ratings for the top stations throughout the day.
The graph shows that Wazobia FM is the leading radio station in ratings throughout the day nationally. Its highest ratings are between 4-6PM with an average of 2.97. The second radio station in ratings is Ray Power FM which has its highest point between 8-10AM with an average of 2.43.
There is a stiff competition amongst the other radio stations throughout the day.
GeoPoll also examined average audience share for Q4 2016:
Wazobia FM achieves the top spot in share with an average of 9.8% of all listeners followed by Ray Power FM with an average of 7.4%. Cool FM gets the third position with a share of 4.3% followed by Fresh FM with a share of 4.1%.
The high share % for other stations outside the top 10 indicates the large number of radio stations in Nigeria, which broadcast across the country at a regional level.
Wazobia FM has the top spot, averaging 9.0% of all listeners followed by Ray Power FM with an average of 6.9%. Cool FM has an average of 3.9% thus achieving the third share with a slight difference from FRCN which has an average share of 3.7%. The high share % for other stations outside the top 10 indicates the large number of radio stations in Nigeria, which broadcast across the country at a regional level.
Television
Using the daily data collected through GeoPoll's Media Measurement Service, GeoPoll has analyzed the top TV stations in Nigeria for Q4 2016. We examined both ratings and share for the top stations in Nigeria. The below chart shows the average ratings for the top 10 stations during the peak hours, from 19:00 to 21:30.
According to the graph above, Channels TV leads in ratings nationally during peak hours with its highest ratings being at 9PM with an average of 3.94. AIT consistently achieves the second position on ratings during peak hours nationally with its highest point being at 8.30PM with an average of 3.61.
GeoPoll also examined average share across the entire day during Q4 2016.
Channels TV achieves the highest share with an average of 15.3% of all viewers nationally followed by a slight difference from AIT which has an average share of 14.1%. Silverbird TV achieves the third highest share with an average share of 9.3% followed by CNN with an average share of 9.2%.
NTA is now asked at the regional level for each state, and the ratings for each individual NTA station combine to account for a large % of the ‘Other’ stations outside of the top 10.
