We are pleased to provide you with a Media Measurement report with audience statistics on Top TV Stations and Top Radio Stations for Quarter 2 2017 in Afghanistan, where the GeoPoll Media Measurement service is currently available.
Radio
GeoPoll has analyzed the top 10 radio stations at the national level in Afghanistan for Q2 2017, using the daily data collected through its Media Measurement Service. Both ratings and share for the top stations in Afghanistan are examined. The below chart shows the average ratings for the top stations in Afghanistan throughout the day.
Arman FM maintains its highest ratings throughout the day in Afghanistan with its top spot being between 2-4PM with an average of 4.48. Azad Radio achieves the second position in ratings throughout the day except between 8-10PM where BBC Radio takes the second position. There is a stiff competition amongst the other Radio Stations.
GeoPoll also took into account the average share for Q2 2017:
Arman FM achieves the highest audience share of 22.2%. Azad Radio takes the second with a difference of 12.6% share from the first. Khurshid FM achieves the third position in audience share nationally. People listening to other stations outside the top 10, which broadcast across the country at a regional level, account for the remaining 27.1% share.
The high share percentage for other stations outside the top 10 indicates the large number of radio stations in Afghanistan which broadcast across the country at a regional level.
Television
GeoPoll has analyzed the top 10 TV stations at the national level in Afghanistan for Q2 2017 using the daily data collected through its Media Measurement Service. Both ratings and share for the top stations in Afghanistan are examined.
The chart below shows the average ratings for the top 10 stations in Afghanistan during peak hours i.e. from 19:00 to 21:30.
Tolo TV station has the most ratings during peak hours as compared to the other TV stations in Afghanistan. Its highest spot is during the 8:30-9PM slot with an average of 5.30. There is a stiff competition amongst the other TV stations during peak hours in Afghanistan.
GeoPoll also examined average share across the entire day during Q2 2017.
Tolo TV station has the highest audience share of 27.0% followed by Tolo News with a great difference of 18.3%. Khurshid TV is the third followed by Shamshad TV.
The share for other stations outside the top 10 indicates that only 20.1% of TV stations in Afghanistan, which broadcast across the country at regional level.
