We are pleased to provide you with a Media Measurement report with audience statistics on Top TV Stations and Top Radio Stations for Quarter 1 2017 in Afghanistan, where the GeoPoll Media Measurement service is currently available.
Radio
Using the daily data collected through GeoPoll's Media Measurement Service, GeoPoll has analyzed the top Radio stations at the national level in Afghanistan for Q1 2017. We examined both ratings and share for the top stations in Afghanistan. The below chart shows the average ratings for the top stations throughout the day:
According to the graph, Arman FM takes the lead throughout with its highest rating at 8-10AM being 6.77. There is a stiff competition between Khurshid FM and Azadi Radio. Khurshid FM leads at 8AM-12PM and 2PM-10PM. Its highest rating is at 10AM-12PM being 2.89. The rest of the stations have a tight competition amongst themselves throughout the day.
GeoPoll also examined average share for Q1 2017:
Arman FM takes the lead in shares with an average of 21.4% followed by Khurshid FM with a share of 8.5%. Azadi Radio takes the third position in share with an average of 8.0%. There is a stiff competition amongst the other radio stations at a national level.
The high share of 30.2% for other stations not within the top 10 shows the large number of radio stations in Afghanistan which broadcast across the country at a regional level.
Television
Using the daily data collected through GeoPoll's Media Measurement Service, GeoPoll has analyzed the top TV stations in Afghanistan for Q1 2017. We examined both ratings and share for the top stations in Afghanistan. The below chart shows the average ratings for the top 10 stations during the peak hours, from 19:00 to 21:30.
The graph shows that TOLO leads in rating throughout the peak hours with its highest rating at 8PM with 11.92. TOLO NEWS takes the second position at 7-8.30PM with its highest rating being 3.20 at 9.30PM. Yak (1) TV takes the second position between 9-10 PM. There is stiff competition amongst the rest of the stations during the peak hours
GeoPoll also examined average share across the entire day during Q1 2017.
TOLO TV captures the top spot with an average of 33.0% followed by TOLO NEWS with a share of 10.6%, and Khurshid TV in the third position with an average of 6.8%.
The share for other stations outside the top 10 indicates that only 20.1% of radio stations in Afghanistan, which broadcast across the country at regional level.
