# Comprehensive insights from Nigeria's largest-ever household survey

![Nigeria map](https://knowledge.geopoll.com/hubfs/Nigeria%20map.png "Nigeria map")

The GeoPoll Nigerian National Household Survey is the most extensive single in-person household survey ever conducted in Nigeria, with data collected from 60,000 households between October 2022 and March 2023. Using a GIS-based multistage cluster sampling approach and deployed on the GeoPoll Mobile Interviewer App, this study paints a detailed demographic and socioeconomic portrait of Nigerian households. Each data point collected is a step towards transformative insights, influencing policy-making, business strategy, and developmental initiatives nationwide. The survey not only benchmarks the power of technology in data collection but also serves as a vital tool for sustainable growth and targeted intervention across various sectors.

- 60,000 households
- Extrapolated to the population at the Local Government Area (LGA) level
- Statistically representative of 96% of urban and 66% of rural households

## Analysis Filters & Data Formats

All data can be analyzed against an array of household demographics drawn from survey profiling questions and GIS data for each location. The massive sample size means multiple filters can be applied to an analysis while still retaining a narrow margin of error.

**WHY IT MATTERS**

## Applications

- Needs analysis for infrastructure, e.g., mobile networks, water and sanitation services, filling stations, etc.
- Selecting the optimum locations for businesses and service points, e.g., restaurants, financial services branches, retail stores, etc.
- Identifying populations most vulnerable to shocks, e.g., drought, conflict, and disease outbreaks.
- Targeted strategies for the development and rollout of media communication campaigns, e.g., advertising, behavior change, etc.
